A Wizard of Earthsea

The greatest new wizard of the land is on the search for power and knowledge with no limit insight until he is faced with himself. Sparrowhawk journey started in a small village with a simple life until he is introduced to truth of his power and the reality of wizards, dragons and the mystery of magic.

This book came to me with glowing recommendations and I am happy to say it did not disappoint. Not only does this book let you escape to a wonderful fantasy world full of dragons and wizards Ursula K. Le Guin presents you with thought provoking ideas such as identity, friendship, and how one faces the trials of life. One of the main ideas that this fantasy book plays with is the idea of one’s name and the power that comes with someone’s name. To telly know someone is an act of vulnerability and trust or on the other side of things it can be crushing violation that leads to control and destruction.

A Wizard of Earthsea is a well written, enjoyable and easy to read that not only brings your imagination to life as you follow the beginnings of Sparrowhawk, but it also leaves you with questions and ideas that should be asked and thought about in your own adventure of life. Hope you enjoy the book as much as I did. Thanks.
